Our After-School Homework Club (ASHC) program provides children with an educational and safe environment to encourage self-motivated homework completion with assistance from volunteers available if needed. ASHC fosters a sense of personal responsibility for success and builds self-esteem and confidence in the student's ability to succeed. Appropriate educational games and activities are available following homework completion. Sometimes our volunteers are the only adults available to work with these children on their homework. We currently offer the ASHC at two Title I Elementary Schools in the West Hollywood Area.
"Children who are in school-age, after-school care programs avoid being retained a grade. After-school programs are proven to save school districts more than one million dollars a year because these children are not kept back." -- Children's Defense Fund, 1996
